m the Chairman
Welcome to the website of the Department of Periodontics. It is my pleasure to introduce you to one of the finest departments in this country. Each of our three divisions including predoctoral, postdoctoral, and research, share the goal of achieving excellence in their missions. The Department has received national and international acclaim in the areas of teaching, service, and scholarly activity. Outstanding residents continue a tradition of award-winning productivity facilitated by a faculty that is renown in this profession. Faculty and alumni occupy leadership positions in the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Board of Periodontology, the Southwest Society of Periodontology, the Texas Society of Periodontists, and related organizatuons such as the American Dental Education Association, the International and the American Association of Dental Research, the Academy of Osseointegration, and the International Team for Implantology. Our residents annually are regional and national award finalists and winners. Predoctoral students routinely score well on regional and national examinations.
