Dr. Arnold graduated from the University of California, School of Dentistry, in San Francisco.  He spent 26 years in the United States Air Force. During this time he received his Periodontics certificate from Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center and a Masters Degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Texas, School of Dentistry, in Houston.  He then taught in two Air Force General Dentistry Residencies, and part time at the University of Pacific Dental School, the Medical College of Virginia Dental School, and the Nippon Dental College in Tokyo, Japan.  He has authored or co-authored several scientific papers and presented lectures nationally and internationally.  He joined the faculty at the Health Science Center in 1992, teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate Periodontics programs.  Dr Arnold is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and the American Board of Oral Medicine.  His main interests are in clinical Periodontics and clinical research with dental implants and biomodification of root surfaces for periodontal regeneration.
